"CORRODED ROCK AND STARDUST"

Between us, moons cracked and stars exploded

I was breathing in corroded rock and star dust

We held a balloon together with rubber that inched between the crevices of our finger-woven cave

I squeeze inconsistently , scared that the needles in my skin would nick the fragile rubber

You hold tighter in response yet gentle... careful not to leave cracks in this ornamental, porcelain doll

Fingers open and close in unison with my fast-paced beating heart

I'm sure you could hear the echo of my pounding veins blare through the speakers Your ears ringing in response

You lift my finger nonchalantly and my lungs shut down

My ring sparkles and with it my poorly-hidden smile

I'm scared to breathe

I'm scared to speak

My brain discards all files

I'm scared that the needles in my hands will draw blood from yours

I can't breathe

I can't speak

I can't think

I spiral out of order-

"Your hands are soft."
